Welcome to our Kids Ministry Newsletter! We are so happy you are here! This newsletter the source for you to "be in the know" about all things Kids Min. Check in for updates on Events, Kids Sunday Series, and Parent Support.

Kids Ministry for ages birth-5th grade is available at 9:00AM and 10:40AM. Our volunteer team is ready to connect with your kids 15 minutes prior to the service start.

Welcome

This August we are going through a new series called "Zoom" This series is all about the first five books of the Bible. Each week we will zoom in to one of the five books of the Torah to look at key stories, and then zoom out to see how they connect to the overal story that bible is trying to tell! This will help us learn the Bible is unified story that leads to Jesus!

Why This Series Matters

It is often easy to overlook some of the stories in the Old Testament as unimportant or outdated. Jesus' story is all that matter right? But these stories in the Old Testament were important to Jesus. The whole scriputure is a unified story that leads to Jesus, so the more we know and understand that story, the more we understand who Jesus is and what Jesus came to do.

Ask (Elementary): How does the stories in the Old Testament tell us about Jesus

Ask (Pre-K): What does these stories tell us about God

Notice: This month is about connecting the Old Testament to Jesus

Pray: God, thank you for being faithful then, and thank you for continuing to be faithful now

Parent Tip: You don't have to have all the answers. Saying "I don't know, but I trust God" in front of your kid is one of the most powerful things you can model.

Weekly Car Ride Questions

Week of August 2 — The Book of Genesis

Pre-K: Who made you? Did you know God made you because He loves you and wants to be your friend?

Elementary: In Genesis, we see that sin separated people from God, but God had a plan to rescue them. How does knowing Jesus made a way for us to be God's friend change the way you think about Him?

Week of August 9 — The Book of Exodus

Pre-K: Has someone ever helped you when you needed it? How does God help take care of you every day?

Elementary: God provided for His people in the wilderness. What is something God has provided for you recently, and how can you trust Him with something you're worried about?

Week of August 16 — The Book of Leviticus

Pre-K: What do you do when you make a mistake? Did you know Jesus forgives us when we trust Him?

Elementary: Leviticus shows how serious sin is, but it also points to Jesus as our perfect sacrifice. Why do you think only Jesus could make us right with God?

Week of August 23 — The Book of Numbers

Pre-K: Is it always easy to obey? Why do you think God wants us to follow Him?

Elementary: The Israelites often chose their own way instead of trusting God. What are some ways we can choose God's way, even when it's difficult?

Week of August 30 — The Book of Deuteronomy

Pre-K: What is something good God has done for you that you want to remember?

Elementary: Moses reminded God's people to remember everything God had done for them. What is one way you can remember and thank God for His faithfulness this week?

Parent Tips

You don't have to create a formal devotion time for these conversations to count. The car, the dinner table, and bedtime are all sacred spaces. If your child doesn't answer right away, that's okay. Ask the question, let it sit, and be ready when they bring it back up later — and they often will. This month, consider sharing one piece of your own faith story with your child. It doesn't have to be polished. Real is better than perfect.

Pre-K Corner

This month's big idea for Pre-K: God loves me and is always with me.

At home this week:

Sing or say together: "God is always with me, no matter what."

When something hard happens, say out loud: "God is here right now." Let your child repeat it back to you.
